To my much more experienced colleagues David Larkin, Rachel - TopicsExpress

To my much more experienced colleagues David Larkin, Rachel Campbell, and Christopher Coady - is it normal for journals to require hefty processing and publication fees? I could be being incredibly naïve here, but since Ive heard of some scamming journals doing this sort of thing I thought I should check before being elated about publication: Dear Dr. Peter Anthony Smith, GSTF is pleased to inform you that your paper, “Computer Aided Statistical Analysis of Motive Use and Compositional Idiom“ has been positively reviewed for publication in the JMusic Vol 1 No 1. GSTF will proceed to include your paper for printing of the journal and also send you the Review Comments upon receiving your payment as Processing/Publication Fee and the signed copyright form as attached. Please note that the processing and shipping fee is USD 300 for printed copy of the Journal or USD 200 for a PDF version. Kindly use the PayPal website link to make your registration of payment on or before 141h March 2014. Please enter the following email address (under “To:”) to make payment: [email protected]. Kindly remember to include an additional 5% on top of your registration fee. This is for the 5% PayPal Administrative charge. I guess its nice they presume Im a doctor?
