To my tech and web design friends out on there on FB I have a series of important question??? Our website is wide open! Busy web site, very busy Facebook page, and our phones ringing off the hook. The problem I have is not with our current website or our business operations – but rather our problem is with how can I make "small" changes to the website improve things I would like to do a “minor” upgrade to Aberdeen Times. (Don’t freak LOL …. same name, same folks etc.) I want to be able to keep all the same basic layouts and looks that work so well - but with a better platform or program for it to run on that can help us improve in several key ways: 1) I use a “What You See Is What You Get” very basic design program that works great for just posting pages but lacks several key features. The most important is that now we cannot archive articles and readers cannot search past articles. 2) The second most important problem is that the method I us is VERY labor intensive. Wasting serious time and effort that should be used somewhere else. PLUS next to impossible to be able to teach someone to help 3) Program needs to be easy to learn to use and not need a programmer to operate 4) I have a big website – transferring the old site to a new platform is going to be scary for sure 5) Is there a program out there that is not going to cost me serious money that I just I don’t have or need to be to be a computer genius to turn it all on?? 6) Not very mobile friendly for some devices 7) And the lisy could go on NOT looking for a big company that I honestly I cannot afford - I am looking for someone who is really talented and willing to work out an arrangement to assist with the upgrade of one of the areas coolest local news website. After making a series of bad decisions a few months ago - this is something after much thought and prayer I am approaching with an open mind and an open heart. My wife and I will together to hopefully find the RIGHT person to help us take everything we have built up until today to the next level and all it can be.
