To the Tibetans who are protesting against Apple Company. ཀུ་ཤུ་བཟོ་ཚོང་ཁང་ལ་ངོ་རྒོལ་བྱེད་མཁན་བོད་མི་ཚོར་ཕུལ་བ། Recently through media, we knew that Tibetans are protesting against Apple as the Company’s Supplier (Pegatron Factory) in China is discriminating and refusing to hire minority ethnic groups including Huis, Tibetans and Uighurs as laborers in mainland China. Initially, Foxconn Company founded by Terry Gou from Taiwan makes wireless products of Samsung, Nokia and Apple. His company is based in Shenzhen and Kunshan in mainland China, where tens of thousands of laborers protested to seek worker rights and wages and even some workers committed suicide. In July, according to recent China Labor Watch Report, chinalaborwatch.org/news/new-459.html, Pegatron Group, a major supplier to Apple violates labor rights specifically on hiring ethnic minority workers including Tibetan which triggered some of the exile Tibetan accusation and later protest against Apple. Tibetans in New York protested against three Apple store to highlight the discriminatory labor hiring practices in China. This protest is wrong in three main reasons. 1.Protest against Apple is a wrong target. Pegatron’s discrimination against Tibetans and Huis, etc. while hiring are unfair practices that is not only Apple’s fault as it is prevalent in all major gadget producing Industries of China. The labor problem with Apple’s Supplier is related directly with Government’s labor rights and policies. So protest against Apple is wrong. 2.Losing focus of protest, grabbing branches than root. As one who know well about how the majority of Tibetans in Tibetan region makes living and perspectives, reports coming from Mainland China about unfair labor rights is not a major issue for Tibetans. As few or minor percentage of Tibetan population seeks job in mainland China. Cases of racial discrimination and repression are happening in Tibetan region. Tibetans struggling in their daily lives with Chinese intimidation are directly relevant issues. So, from the perspective of majority of Tibetan people struggling with challenges each day due to direct governmental minority policy, protesting against Apple is losing focus and grabbing to branches than root. 3. Protesting against apple is ungrateful act to gracious one. When Tibetan people’s culture and heritage are declining, especially from 2008 When China removed International standard Tibetan font from the computer, Tibetans inside and outside Tibetan started using different types of Tibetan Font in each web page creating challenges in reading and using Tibetan font of each other in a standard way. But later in all Apple products, out of hundreds of languages, Apple included 50 International languages in their products including Tibetan Font. That helped Tibetans inside and outside Tibet at this internet era to communicate without needing to download as Tibetan language Font as it is in the automatic set up of the products like I-Phone and I-Pad equally like other languages. Also the Font is named “Tibetan”. If Apple prioritize on profit, then adding Tibetan Font will not serve them, as Tibetan language users are not comparable and worth to consider in the market value. For us, including Tibetan Font in Apple products gave us a hand to preserve and use our language in internet era, a political gain and improves inside and outside Tibetan connection. So, we have to consider the law of causality (legyudae) and logic rather than to head towards political activist’s seizing protest opportunity. It will be our loss than a gain to protest against Apple. Contrarily, Educated Tibetans inside Tibet appreciated and felt grateful to Apple as Tibetan Language is the soul of the Nation. Protesting against the company that is grateful to Tibetans is a sad thing. ང་ཚོས་ལས་རྒྱུ་འབྲས་དང་གནས་ལུགས་ཀྱི་མགོ་ཁུངས་ལ་ལྟ་དགོས་པ་ལས། ཆབ་སྲིད་ལས་འགུལ་བས་རྩ་དོན་དང་གནས་ལུགས་བཞག་ནས། གོ་སྐབས་ཡོད་ཚད་ལ་ངོ་རྒོལ་བྱེད་ཡུལ་ནོར་བ་དང་སྐད་ཅོར་རྒྱབ་ན་ང་ཚོར་གྱོང་ལས་ཁེ་མེད་ལ།
