To the rude gentleman we encountered tonight: I recently received a camera as a gift for my birthday. As someone who loves photography, this was a rather exciting early birthday present. Ive been counting pennies slowly and counting down, how soon I may save up for it, so lets just say the early surprise was welcome ;) You see, I love unique photos. Ones that show some different views on life. So when a train happened to park itself along the tracks, with a sunset placed behind it, well you may understand my excitement and eagerness to photograph it. As my friend drove me down, we parked on a dirt road alongside south lakeside where many, many others usually park for a quick dip in the lake. Eager, we leapt out the car, and despite sore feet after a long day of work, I walked the length of each side of that train, capturing many, many neat shots which I was proud of. Limping back, sore but happy my friend and I noticed that familiar smell of weed. Shrugging it off as the neighbours doings we encountered a, at that moment, seemingly kind gentleman- assumption well mistaken. Giving us a condescending look he practically spat in out faces demanding to know who parked on his property. Asking if that was our car. Our bad! We saw a no trespassing sign and didnt cross it. We parked before it, so as to not upset anyone. Complete misunderstanding, we thought it was a public road. His rude nature continued as he claimed that its his property, and if we so dared to be there again we would be paying a lot to get that car out- I left the explicitness out. You can only imaging what words may have been in there. My friend explained, slightly frustrated with his rudeness, that we didnt see the signs and we wouldnt park there again. He continued, claiming my friend was blind and bound to kill a kid someday. This was rather upsetting, of course. Hes a careful driver. He continuously got in our faces calling my friend stupid and other crude names. I remained with my head down silent. We got in the car ready to leave, as the man walked away, only for him to march back practically screaming that he could smell the weed we had been smoking. This assumption was of course, extremely frustrating. I simply wanted to play with my camera. He implied otherwise. When my friend said no, it wasnt us and it was stereotypical of him to assume that, he proceeded to lean in the window of the car and question whether it had been me. I remained silent the entire time, keeping out of the fight. Why question me? He screamed at us that he would call the cops right this minute as we drove away. I simply wanted a night out to practice photography. All he had to say was please dont park on my property, it is private. Good nights ruined by bad people. Seems to happen more often than not. Cheers to the positive people who seem to be less and less in this town!!
