Today 19 October The Fall of The Grenanda Revolution and muder of Maurice Bishop. ...I witnessed the event of the Grenada downfall while working in TV in Suriname...I had filmed Maurice Bishop and was a supporter of the Grenada Revolution as was the leadership of the Suriname Revolution .... On this date -October 19 - Prime Minister Maurice Bishop and his close colleagues were machine gunned to death. Their bodies have never been found. Six days after the killings US forces - under the direction of President Reagan - landed in Grenada. Desi Bouterse, the leader of the Suriname Revolution came to the TV studio while I was there and asked to make an TV announcement - he had lost a close comrade and surly would speak out against the US invasion ... no - he called all the Suriname students back from Cuba and Grenada, asked the Cuban workers, teachers and consultants in Suriname to leave... I can still remember the gaze he gave me as he passed by leaving the studio.. my mouth must have been hanging open.. my only guess is that the American ambassador got to him and said - do you want to be next?
