Today I am in Huntsville, Alabama and attended The Painted Rock Bluegrass Festival. 1. It was in a no phone service, middle of nowhere, Deliverancesque area. 2. Whenever Dixie was played, it was expected and announced that all should stand and remove headwear ( but there was nothing antagonistic intended). 3. We were the only family in Chacos. 4. I ate the best soaked-in-brine, smoked turkey leg ever. 5. The best part? One whole hour of congregational singing from the LO Sanderson edited Christian hymnal--complete with an electric bass and a Baptist banging piano player for accompaniment.
