Today I converted my favourite Pea & Ham Soup into a slow cooker - TopicsExpress

Today I converted my favourite Pea & Ham Soup into a slow cooker recipe. Turned out perfectly. I made a large batch and my slow cooker was full to the brim but Im sure you could reduce the amounts. *1kg Ham Hock *300g diced bacon *3 cloves of garlic (minced) *3 carrots, 5 celery stalks and 2 onions (all chopped roughly) *500g dried green split peas *2L water *Salt and pepper to taste Rinse split peas under water until water runs clear. Place them in the bottom of the slow cooker with veg, garlic, bacon and water. Stir to combine. Place ham hock in the centre. Place lid on and cook on low for 7-8 hours. Stir every hour or so. When time is up, use tongs to carefully pull out the ham hock and place on a cutting board. The meat will slide off the bone. Dice or shred the meat. Set aside. I then used a blender stick (straight into the SC) to blend the soup to desired consistency. Once blended, tip the diced meat into the soup and stir through. Add salt and pepper to desired taste (some hocks make a saltier soup than others). Enjoy!!! We served with crusty tiger bread. Yum!
