Today I have received several PMs on why I chose to put Ava down. Her heart was failing. ( her heart was so enlarged on the x-ray and her lungs were filled with fluid) I did not want to prolong her suffering. Yes, I know I could have put her on Digoxin ( which has nasty side effects) Lasix and Ace Inhibitors. I chose to allow my dog to die with dignity. Even the Vet in attendance said she was impressed that I put the welfare of my animal over my wants, needs and desires. I LOVE MY DOG. I would NEVER put her down if I felt there was a chance of recovery.
