Today I learned, that Elmer Garland, died. We were 6 months apart in age. He was more like a brother to me than my own brother who was much older. Elmer lived next door. He was with me the night we came indoors to our house and discovered my dad experiencing his first stroke. Together we virtually carried daddy across the room until he regained the strength in his legs. Another time I heard his 4H calf (the a young cow) having difficulty birthing. I got Elmer and we delivered the calf, saving the young cows life. He knew exactly what to do and did most of it himself. Elmer was always a good boy/man may God Bless his soul.
