Today I sat outside with my cup of coffee and thought about my kids. There isnt a book that drops to our lap when we give birth with the perfect kid instructions. We just do the best we can as parents. We will make mistakes, get angry when we really didnt need to, expect more than we should at times, love to the point of suffocation and spend nights staring at a sleeping child that fills our heart to the point of bursting. There isnt a perfect parent, just good ones trying to raise good kids. My kids are grown now and I know we, Joseph Pepie DAgata, did a good job and set positive examples for our kids to follow. I know this because my son will drive to my moms just to bring her a loaf of bread without her even asking and stay for hours so shell cook him something yummy. My daughter will deliver food to the man holding the sign on a corner--even if she knows he may have a pocket filled with money. My son calls from his break at class today for his new job to tell me he loves me. My daughter wraps her arms around both her boys and tells me that they are her greatest gifts. They are kind like their dad and crazy like me and each have such big hearts. As I reflect, my kids have never been in trouble, not one day. Sure, no child is perfect! But I have a lot to be proud of because Ive raised GOOD people! Love you to the moon!
