Today I took my brother to the cemetery to go visit our parents graves. I always put him in front of their graves at the mausoleum and I walk away, to give him his privacy. (he likes to talk to them). In the mean time, I walk around the cemetery visiting the graves of friends or neighbors and paying my respects. As I was looking for a certain friends grave, I noticed that a few head stones were missing their vases. I figured they fell off or the maintenance had hit them with the lawn mower. I found my friends grave and said a prayer. Then I noticed that not only a few gravestones were missing the vases. I started to count. I got up to 27 missing vases. I could of kept on counting and then realized that thieves took these vases. I remember seeing a report on the news about another cemetery having the same issue. I started to think, how can these people not respect a grave? How can they just come and cut the chain and remove the vase? I even saw one that was stuck in the headstone, but the base was damaged, like if they had used pliers to try and dig it out. When I go to the cemetery, I go with respect. I pick up flowers that have blown away and place them on the grave site. I still dont understand how some individuals have no heart, no remorse or no shame!!! Sad, sad, sad!!!
