Today I visited Chesitet and Kapedo villages which have been hit - TopicsExpress

Today I visited Chesitet and Kapedo villages which have been hit by recent bandit attacks leading to the death of police officers and civilians, and destruction of property. I ordered Pokot and Turkana residents and their leaders to immediately surrender all illegal guns to the Government. As Government, we will take firm action against those who killed security officers in this area. These criminals must pay for their heinous act. The Government will not, at any cost, allow criminals to continue taking up arms against the country’s security personnel. We will not tolerate anybody threatening the lives of police officers or any other Kenyan. No one has the right to kill another, whatever the reason. As your leader, I will do everything within my Constitutional mandate to ensure the lives of all Kenyans and their property are protected. I cautioned leaders to stop inciting citizens and politicizing natural resources and instead allow investors to extract minerals for the benefit of the country. These resources are supposed to benefit us as Kenyans and not be a source of conflict. We would rather not exploit them in order to maintain peace rather than allow them to divide us. We cannot allow resources such as grazing land, geothermal and oil discoveries to be used as an excuse to maim and kill people. These resources are for the benefit of all Kenyans.
