Today I was a pallbearer for a very, very close relative. Today I - TopicsExpress

Today I was a pallbearer for a very, very close relative. Today I stood in the 1 degree cold and bitter wind watching with tears in my eyes as his casket descended. He was 74. Technically, he was my second cousin, in reality he was my uncle. He was a link to a past that I miss. A link to my family and my deceased father who thought of him as a brother. As I age I realize that family can be both a source of great pain and a source of love. We need people who can make us laugh, tell us when were wrong and help us when we need help without judgment. My uncle was an old school Southern man who made the circuit from California to the East Coast picking crops. He came from a hard life of such impoverished poverty that today many would simply believe he was exaggerating. Once, he told me that he never had indoor plumbing until he joined the army in 1957. Anyway, I wont bore anyone with stories Ive told before. Im sad today. I miss my family. The news was horrific today and my spirit is aching. I always liked this piece of music and today it feels right. https://youtube/watch?v=oLNORRrRyMQ
