Today, I was very blessed. I want to share a story with you. Then, I would like to ask you a favor. Heres my story: At the Veterans home today, I was walking in the corridor and saw a man in a wheelchair (very common there). I walked up and smiled and told him Happy Thanksgiving. He looked up at me with tears in his eyes. He said Thank you. Thank you very much. Then, he tells me he wants to tell me something. He said he has four kids, and fourteen grandkids, and a wife who gets around well. I smiled at him. Then, with a tear in his eyes, he tells me that no one thought of him today. He said no one came to visit him on this very special day. I almost broke out in tears. I leaned down and looked him in the eye and told him I came to see you! And I brought you a hug! I got the sweetest hug from this little man. He just kept thanking me for thinking of an old man like him. Now, that Ive made you all swallow real hard so you dont get tears, heres my favor. Please, if you live near a nursing home (veteran or not), drop by sometime and ask if you can spend even an hour with someone there who doesnt get visitors. These people need us! No one deserves to feel how he felt today.
