Today I went to Kiev and asked for a recommendation on some - TopicsExpress

Today I went to Kiev and asked for a recommendation on some candies, to my surprise the old man behind the counter spoke absolutely no English. Admittedly I panicked, but I was able to navigate through transactions (admittedly with a few repetitions and mistakes) but the point is, I communicated with him. He was very patient with me, and actually complemented my very broken Russian. One of my instructors once said to me that learning languages never becomes real until you make a bond with another person. Today, it became real. Regardless of my grades in SLI, this experience made all of the tests, homework and stress completely worth it. This, folks, is why I do this.
