Today, Nov. 19th annually, is World Toilet Day, a cause my mother, Marian Wright, (took a lot of flack from her kids for, but) has been very passionate about for many years now! My family and I believe deeply in domestic & international travel - we believe it enlightens people and teaches things no school ever can. Our familys been outrageously blessed in getting to see many places in the USA & worldwide and continue to do so regularly and am grateful. That said, Im also grateful for our toilets. Often referred to as Western or European toilets abroad, I have thrown tissue in garbage cans instead flushed thus exposing the environment to E coli bacteria, peed in holes in the ground, not had access to cleaning materials, and gotten very, very sick after eating out in certain foreign countries who have less access to Western toilets & toiletries. Over 2.5 billion people worldwide do not have access to a clean or safe toilet. Sanitation access goes as far as affecting things like helping to keep girls in school! I even have a friend, Heather Meyer Gabaud, thats installed her own wells etc. for their own nonprofit for children in Haiti, Footprints of the Son. Message Heather to donate to her cause and you have my word youll know exactly where your money is going! Learn all about World Toilet Day and how you can help- theres even a video by Matt Damon about it- at worldtoiletday.org/ #worldtoiletday #toiletday #wecantwait #grateful #gratitudejournal #thanksgiving
