Today, Secretary of State John Kerry traveled to Paris to meet with President François Hollande and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Development Laurent Fabius, and to express his solidarity with the French people. In a meeting at the Elysée, President Hollande thanked both Secretary Kerry and President Obama for the continued support of the United States following the devastating terrorist attacks in Paris last week. Speaking about the mobilization of the French people in the aftermath of the attacks, Secretary Kerry said, we watched the people of France come together with a great sense of purpose and unity. It was a great lesson to the world, I think. And once again, France, through its commitment to freedom and to the passion of ideas, has made an important statement to the world.
