Today, dear reader, I would like you to meet another deity of the Rheyfelwr - Arawn. Who is He? Arawn is the God of death, war, terror and revenge. He is the king of Annwyfn - the Otherworld realm of eternal youth where disease is absent and foo ever-abundant. He is the master warrior, hunter and God of the Dead. He oversees spiritual contacts, magickal matters and friendship. Priesthood Not surprisingly, the priests and priestesses of Arawn deal in death. They are the caretakers of the dead on the battlefields, tending to noble and commoner alike as death is seen as the great equalizer. The Priesthood of Arawn does not get involved in the politics of the realms and often the members of the esoteric order are solitary with little interest in the companionship of others or even other members of the priesthood. Which is why outside of battles, they are often found wandering in solitude or tending abandoned, long-forgotten or isolated cemeteries. Most members of the Priesthood of Arawn are orphans left behind by wars, roving bandits, cewri hunts, Unseelie attacks and the like. Taken in and raised by the priesthood, they receive intense martial training and are schooled in the magicks of Annwyfn and particularly death magicks. Upon completion of their training, priests and priestesses of Arawn receive a tattoo on their forehead in the pattern of three Hounds. The emblem of the priesthood are three white hounds with red ears. Purpose The purpose of Arawns priests and priestesses is not only to see to the dead wherever they are found but to combat necromancers and their works in all forms. Necromancy is seen as a corruption of the Natural Order and is to be eradicated. Nacromancers and arcmages are their primary enemies. Powers The priests and priestesses of Arawn command a great many powers connected to death and the Otherworld. Among those for which theyre most widely know is the ability to summon a Wild Hunt (a trio of white hounds with red ears - Hounds of Arawn), to open a gate to Annwyfn and travel safely through the Otherworld to any where else in the Material Realm, to summon spirits for guidance and aid, to destroy undead and to send ghosts, haunts and possessing spirits back to the Land of the Dead.
