Today has been a special day!~ :D In the morning I heard the announcements and herd my name being said. And we wish Marlene a happy birthday from all of her friends. A long time ago (kindergarten), I felt alone. I used to sit alone and preferred to be alone, because I was scared of my new surroundings. I felt like I had no friends most of the time because of my shyness and language barrier. Now that Ive grown up with them, I feel a deep connection with all my friends and family. Of course, where there was fire, ashes remain. I am still shy. Yes. But now I am able to express my inner feelings with other people around me. When I saw the banner, I was in complete shock. No one has ever done anything like that to me. Now, I see that people care about me. Now I see that being alone is pretty drastic without having anyone to talk to. My classmates made a small celebration (literaly) with 15 colored toothpicks and a really pretty candle. Thats the first time I celebrated with friends and not just family. I thank all of you guys who signed and wished my a happy birthday. You dont know how much it means to me. I do not know if people have read this, but for the people that got to read this line, I am thankful and I really appriciate of you taking your wonderful time to read it.~~ :) - Marlene Garcia
