Today in Texas History: Today is Monday, March 17, 2014 1836 - In Texas, the Convention of 1836 adjourned as the Mexican army approached Washington-on-the-Brazos. 1855 - The first law school in Texas was established at Austin College. 1884 - Frank Bring Em Back Alive Buck was born in Gainesville, TX. He traveled the world trapping and transporting exotic animals to zoos and circuses. He wrote at least seven books and produced several motion pictures about animals and his adventures. 1990 - In Arlington, TX, the Texas Giant opened to the public as Six Flags Over Texas. 2007 - Mike Modano (Dallas Stars) scored his 502nd and 503rd career goals making him the all-time U.S. leader in goal-scoring.
