Today in Western New York Weather History : 1968 Heavy rains from thunderstorms on the 22nd and 23rd flooded Buffalo city streets and washed out shoulders of some secondary roads. Tree and powerline damage was reported throughout western New York. Some roads being briefly blocked by fallen limbs. Lightning damage was also reported. 1998 Severe thunderstorms moved onshore from Lake Ontario and roared across Oswego county. The thunderstorm winds downed trees and power lines and poles throughout the region. Damage was reported in Mexico, Pulaski, New Haven, Oswego and Constantia. A wind gust of 59 mph was recorded in Oswego. 2007 A warm front lifting north across the region was the focus for thunderstorms during the early morning hours across the Western Southern Tier of New York. The thunderstorm winds, estimated approaching 60 mph, downed trees in Springville, southern Erie county. Hail up to 1 inch in diameter was also reported with the storms in Forestville, Chautauqua county.
