Today in traffic court I sat while a woman with two children who was unmarried stood before a judge and asked him to reduce her fines for her camera ticket. Here is where my frustration was. This woman explained to the judge she was a single mother working two jobs that could barely keep food on the table. She then asked for a simple reduction in fines. She also pleaded with the judge saying she now realizes what she had done wrong and would never make that same mistake again. The judge ordered her to pay the full amount and said she could make payments. Are you kidding? Does he realize what even $100 per month payments means to a single mother who already works two jobs? I wanted to say something! I actually wanted to scream something however I knew from the years my mother worked for the court system to keep my mouth shut. This type of controlling BS makes me want to move to Ecuador and grow my own food while running around barefoot with no chemical trails! I mean how is this woman supposed to get ahead? And yes, I know she is the one who broke the law. Maybe Im being a softy here but I came from a single parent household. I clearly remember my mother not eating so her three girls had food on their plates! Im finding it EXTREMELY difficult to be a member of a society where authority figures are not only controlling what goes into our food, if and when our children get vaccinated but also placing fines in exuberant amounts for everything from obtaining pure clean drinking water to billing us for tickets from obtained from cameras! Dont even get me started on the chemical trails and our shitty air quality! How do they expect ANYONE to become conscious about anything when the majority of the population is simply trying to stay afloat? I apologize for ranting! However, I am seriously re thinking where I want to live and raise a family. Our government seems to have 99.9% of the population by the balls and I really dont feel like joining the crowd!
