Today is Veterans Day. People all over America will post pictures of family and friends who have served in the military and offer words of gratitude to all who have given of themselves to defend our freedom. I wonder if there might be a better way to honor the memory of our heroes. Given the magnitude of dedication and integrity required to die for ones country, we should ask why someone would pay the ultimate price for the benefit of someone else. I believe the answer lies within the initial oath that each one voiced before their service began. I, _____, do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic;. It is easy to observe Veterans Day, yet to celebrate Veterans day would involve accepting responsibility to take the mantle and voice the same pledge. Defend the Constitution. We may not all be able to fight off foreign threats, but we can do something about the domestic threats. Vote out the idiots who are trying to re-define America, with resolve and vigilance. Stand firm in conversation about individual rights and the responsibility of government. And remind those who fight tirelessly to silence the voice of Christianity that this nation was established in the spirit of religious freedom. Lets honor those who have died for the American way by living out the reason for which they fought. One nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.
