Today is the first day of Advent, not Christmas. It is supposed to be a time of preparation not premature celebration. Of you are putting up decorations and partying now what on earth is there to look forward to about Christmas itself? It saddens me that so many have lost sight of everything about Christmas - celebration of Christs birth and a great mid-winter festival - and spoiled it by not keeping it limited and therefore special. Decorations go up on Christmas Eve and come down on Twelfth Night; indulgence starts after Midnight Mass and ends 6th January. Thats how it is kept significant and meaningful.
