Today marks the 25th Annual World AIDS Day and I find myself - TopicsExpress

Today marks the 25th Annual World AIDS Day and I find myself thinking back to the week I spent on the Bike Rally this past summer. For me, the most impactful point of the entire trip was the night before the final journey in to Montreal. On that night, we all gathered for a candlelight vigil at which several people eloquently spoke of how their own lives had been impacted by HIV & AIDS. Following the vigil, my own team gathered together in a circle and shared our own reasons for participating in the Bike Rally. No two reasons were the exact same; we have all been impacted by HIV and/or AIDS in our own unique ways. There have been many great advances in HIV/AIDS research and treatment over the past couple of decades, and I trust that there are many more of those advances to come. In the meantime, I encourage everyone to learn and know their status, and to use this occasion as an opportunity to educate yourself about what HIV and AIDS are today. Theyre not the same as they were 30 - or even 20 - years ago. Thank God.
