Today my oldest son Isaac turns 23. Rather than go back and remember when he was younger and the special first times, I think its better to talk about the honorable man he has become. He is a man who doesnt trade his values, who doesnt stand in awe of other people, who both demands and gives respect in equal measure. He is affectionate without being gushy, courteous but firm when challenged. A young man of integrity, he is frugal and temperate in his approach to the management of his money and cares little for keeping up appearances and the collection of luxuries. He is hard working, honest and quietly dedicated. On top of all that he is humble, which is why when he sees this he probably will tell me he wishes I hadnt posted it. Whether he fully comprehends it or not, these are the qualities of character set as an example by my father and my grandfathers, and I could not be more happy to see them so well represented in my son. Happy Birthday, Isaac. I love you and am honored to be your Papa. You do your family proud.
