Today, the West Virginia Higher Education Policy Commission was awarded a $21 million grant from the U.S. Department of Education to support college-planning and readiness services for 17,000 students over the next seven years. A strong education puts our youth on a path to reaching their dreams in a competitive and innovative economy. A college degree is so valuable for the students who make a commitment to their future, which is why programs like GEAR UP that encourage more people to attend college are so critical. This program provides students and their families with an arsenal of resources they need to prepare for, pay for and attend college and become the leaders of tomorrow.
