Today the most amazing thing happened. With very little knowledge supplied to me I was told that the Mayor Mark Gerretsen and my colleagues at Tourism Kingston Canada had a special event I was to attend. I was told to be at Fort Henry at 330 by the latest and follow the instructions of the Guard in charge. We hopped aboard a trolley which brought me to City hall where a large group of folks had gathered to celebrate my 30th anniversary as Town crier of Kingston. Speeches by my first mayor and former attorney general John Gerretsen former Speaker of the house of Commons Peter Milliken MP Ted Hsu and of course Mark (all friends as well) made me feel very humble and proud at the same time. After which a Fund-raising cruise aboard the Island Star to represent Kingston in New Zealand at the next World Competition hosted by Paddy-Ann Pemberton. Wow what a day!
