Today was a big day in terms of forward progress with my knee. - TopicsExpress

Today was a big day in terms of forward progress with my knee. They called Michelle this morning to say that there was an opening for an MRI both today and tomorrow, and after she called me, I said, Lets grab todays! So, early this afternoon, with my Managers helpful agreement, I checked out of work early, drove home and got Michelle, and we set off for Chelsea. The MRI itself was an interesting experience. You lie on your back on a table that wheels into a large tube that generates the magnetism for the image, and they told me, Its quite noisy, so we need to protect your ears - would you like earplugs, or headphones with music? This was kind of a no-brainer of course, as was the follow-up question. We can offer you classic rock, or country. Your choice? I restrained a smile, and thought, Oh, if you only knew! :) It only took long enough for me to hear four songs: (1) Drink a Beer (Luke Bryan); (2) Wagon Wheel (Darius Rucker, former frontman for Hootie and the Blowfish, who has in recent years converted wholly to country); (3) Cruise (Florida-Georgia Line); and (4) Chainsaw (The Band Perry). When the machine was operating, it produced a pulsating pitch, which, interestingly, was the same as the tonic of the first song. (I was very glad it wasnt, say, a tritone away. A tritone is one example of a musical INTERVAL, or the distance between two notes, and that one in particular is renowned for being fairly nasty. In the Middle Ages, the tritone was known as Diabolus in Musica, or The Devil in Music. :) ) Had I the perfect pitch my son has (having inherited it from his mother), I could have identified the pitch, but as it was, I could not be sure. The MRI was not a terribly length procedure -- less than 20 minutes in total -- but I was quite frustrated when I learned that I have to come back on Monday morning to meet with my doctor and have him read it, and only after that can we schedule whatever procedure will need to be done. I had initially hoped that since some movement was now FINALLY beginning to take place, work on the knee might even take place later this week. When Michelle explained the situation to me, I vented, Dont they know that Im in PAIN here? She said, Yes, I made them aware that this has been going on for a month, but they said thats the way it has to be.
