Today was a miraculous day for me. This morning at 9am 12 men, volunteers from “Neighborhood Helpers” showed up at my home to build me a handicap ramp. I had lost my ability to walk last March due to M.S. and have been bound to a wheel chair since. I haven’t been able to leave my home without hiring a C.N.A. since then. While they were constructing the ramp my Landlady, Beverly, and her friend Bertha were in my kitchen heating up soup, and making cornbread. I peeled and cut up a bunch of apples so they could make apple crisp for dessert. When the ramp was complete we had an impromptu block party and I got to meet some of my neighbors for the first time. I cannot tell you how blessed I feel to finally be able to get out of my home by myself. Thank you God and thank you “Neighborhood Helpers” for the blessings you have bestowed on me.
