Today was going to be a big test for 2nd Grade against Molesworth at Boyer. Losing the toss, we batted first and slowly built a score. At the first drinks break (17 overs), we were 1/46, with Jamie Field starting to take on the bowling. When Jamie got out for 40, he had made a partnership with Michael Assmann of 69. John Blackburn (18) contributed a 50 run partnership with Michael Assmann in 5 overs to bring the run rate up and when Michael Assmann (88) was dismissed, the score was 196. Lewis Burleigh (24no) and Stephen Mills (7) put on 26 valuable runs for the 9th wicket, giving us a very respectable 9/224. Terry Webb (4/32) and Jamie Field (2/48) opened the bowling and both got 2 wickets in their first spell. We kept the pressure up for the entire innings, with Terry Webb narrowly missing out on a hat trick in his last over of his 2nd spell. Jeremy Gangell (2/41) and Michael Blackburn (2/27) finished off with the help of some great fielding and catching. We ended up winning by 23 runs in another close one!!!! It was another great fielding effort, with everyone contributing in the field.
