Today was spent experimenting with using large irregular in situ shale for roofing material on the octagonal shed. The large slabs are easily split into layers and shaped into 1/4 (or less) thicknesses. They can be attached the same way as slate, drilled and copper nails. I laid this up just to see get a feel for how the patterns and irregular edges would look. The stone can from less than 20 from where I am building this.
