Today we are celebrating Independence Day in India. Its been six decades and more since Indians tasted the fruit of freedom. Today the tricolour will unfurl at the Red Fort and all of us will salute it with great pride. A sense of patriotism will rush through our blood stream.....but by the time its tomorrow we will be in deep slumber oblivious to our own freedom. Freedom does not mean being a revolutionary, but creating a revolution in our selves. To know the difference between desire and need is freedom. To understand that anger and resentment is not the only manner to express is freedom. To believe that your life is your own creation is freedom. To stop being a victim of your own thoughts is freedom. To allow others to live and not judge them is freedom. To be your own Guru is freedom. Once upon a time, there was a general who was leading his army into battle against an enemy ten times the size of his own. Along the way to the battle field, the troops stopped by a small temple to pray for victory. The general held up a coin and told his troops, I am going to implore the gods to help us crush our enemy. If this coin lands with the heads on top, well win. If its tails, well lose. Our fate is in the hands of the gods. Lets pray wholeheartedly. After a short prayer, the general tossed the coin. It landed with the heads on top. The troops were overjoyed and went into the battle with high siprit. Just as predicted, the smaller army won the battle. The soldiers were exalted, Its good to have the gods on our side! No one can change what they have determined. Really? The general show them the coin--both sides of it were heads. Believe that your reality has heads on both sides......you will be free.
