Today we lost a great friend and fellow artist at the shop. Jesse Ramos passed away leaving behind many people who loved him. But he had become more than just a friend or co-worker to Veronica Nickles Hill and I, he had become a part of our family. There arent many tattoo shops whose employees are as close as ours. I consider each and everyone at Not Just Ink as family and I love them all. I am sure the rest of the gang feels the same about Jesse. Jesse was a good man who truly loved and cared for all his children (both by blood and by heart.) Many people didnt get to see this side of him. Most only knew Jesse by his great artistic talent and unfiltered sense of humor. I have to admit his comedy knew no boundaries but I have never known anyone with a bigger heart and love for their children. When you spend ten to twelve hours a day with someone, day after day, week after week, you get to know them pretty well. So I can honestly say Jesse was a real man who truly took care of his kids, not just support them. Unfortunately, out of the endless hours of conversations we had about life, fears, heartaches, joys and sorrows, I never took two seconds to ask jesse if he knew Jesus or if he had God in his heart. The lack of knowing that simple answer fills my heart with worry and sorrow. I pray that he is tattooing infinity signs on all the angels in heaven right now. Knowing jesses big heart, I am sure he was met with open arms at the pearly gates. We will be donating $20 from each tattoo all week to help with expenses during his familys time of need. We will also be holding various fundraisers in the following days ( to be announced) so please show your support for his family during this difficult time. If we can spend a whole day shedding tears for the loss of someone we love, then we can spend two seconds to ask a simple question. So, I have one last question for all my family and friends. Do you know God? Do you have him in your heart? Seriously, please let me know here on facebook or in person.
