Today we said goodbye to Garth, as we helped him pass over the - TopicsExpress

Today we said goodbye to Garth, as we helped him pass over the rainbow bridge. Biopsy results came back yesterday that he had an aggressive, inoperable mast cell tumor. What once might have been removable was now large and taking over his body. It was our worst fear for this sweet, young boy who was about to begin on his new life. So today, we let him be a dog. He hung out behind our front desk, played, chewed on rawhides, and went to the park. Garth was fed all the things that we typically frown on feeding dogs - McDonalds, Burger King, sushi, stewed chicken, peanut butter, pupperonis. He even sampled King cake, and he enjoyed every last minute of it. We were dreading the end of the day, when it was time. We gave Garth one last cheeseburger & he was so proud of it. He carried it around like he had just scored something awesome. Several SAF staff members surrounded him, talked to him, and loved on him as he quietly passed on. We had him for only a short while, but he quickly became a favorite. We take comfort in knowing he will not & did not suffer alone, or die in a shelter. Rest in peace, sweet boy.
