Todays Devotional Call. GOD, teach me lessons for living so I can stay the course. Give me insight so I can do what you tell me— my whole life, one long, obedient response. Guide me down the road of your commandments; … Psalm 119:33- (the Message) How often have we begun a new chapter of our life with passion and a seemingly unwavering belief that what we are doing will surely succeed; only to run into a roadblock or even a stop sign that comes out of nowhere? These pauses along our path can be quite challenging and can even cause us to lose our resolve to press on. After all, shouldn’t God just clear the path and make the journey easy and unobstructed for us since He loves us so much? Well to put it very simply the answer is NO. What I have come to realize, quite reluctantly I might add, is that it is in this moments of slowing down that God is speaking life into my calling. When the going is easy, there is a pretty good chance that I’ll start to feel that I am moving under my own power and not plugging in and asking God to fill me with HIS power, or give me direction. Disappointment and disillusionment are always just on the perimeter of everything we do. But they lay far outside of the path that God has planned out for us. When we are contemplating a new adventure or a redirection of our life, it is so important that we take time to ASK for permission and instruction from God before we even take that first step. Stepping out before kneeling down may offer us temporary success, but by keeping the process within HIS timetables, we can be assured that we will realize some truly amazing victories. The old adage “it’s easier to get forgiveness than permission” doesn’t ring true when it comes following God’s plan. Whether it is your job, your family, your finances, or even your ministry, take time to pause and ASK first “God, what would YOU have me to do?” Today I pray that you will find a new resolve to press on and to change this world in an amazing way. God Bless you and have a wonderful day.
