Todays Rebel Post. Last night we had the opportunity to attend the New Hope football banquet. A Rebel, Michael Spurlock, was the quest speaker. He spoke of the trials, tribulations and rewards of playing the game of football. He reminded the boys that it is so easy to make football your God but that football and you will let yourself down. There is only one God and He is the one that will provide for you and not let you down. As I listened to him I was reminded of each of you and of Park. I was also impressed by the words from Coach Pickle as he went to give the awards. He said it was contradictory to give individual awards, as football is a team sport. A smile ran across our faces as we noticed a recipient receive his award wearing a Park button pinned to his letterman jacket. Toward the end of the awards we were joyful as we heard Coach Pickle describe the impressive characteristics of one of the players, Jeremy Newton, and then call him to the stage to present to him the Park Stevens Award. The awards are wonderful and successes great. The Rebels also had a wonderful season and many of you also received various recognitions for your performances. Several of you continue to be recognized and are preparing now for a shot at the NFL. We just want to remind you all once again of one of our favorite quotes: Talent is God given; be thankful Praise is man-given: be humble Conceit is self- given:be careful We love you and pray for you daily.
