Todays Results : Wilderness Rovers Fc 3-4 Peake Villa Clonmel Celtic FC B 5-0 Wilderness Rovers B Bad day at the office for both teams. In the 11 o Clock kick off the A team welcomed a very well organized Peake Villa team. It only took us 4 mins to see the first of 7 goals in this game, a Brendan Dempsey strike from 12 yards opened the scoring which frankly was the only positive thing about our first half performance, we never really got going at all. It was a lead that lasted all of 10 mins when Peake Villa were awarded a penalty on the 14 minute mark, and was dispatched with ease into the back of the Wildies net. Peake stayed on top and were the better team for the majority of the first half and got their reward on the stroke of half time, with a good move down the left they unlocked our defense and went into the break 2-1 up. We started the second half much better after our poor first half creating a couple of chances and was denied at least one of 2 very strong claims for a penalty, a lot to be said for consistency on this matter, this aside we couldnt break down Peakes defense and more misery was to come on the 56 min when a defense blunder gifted the away side their 3rd goal of the morning. Eric Smith pulled a goal back again when his shot from 20 yards flew across the goalkeeper and nestled nicely into the bottom corner. But it wasnt enough when Peake delt another blow with a well worked 4th goal 2 mins before time. Ashley Keane decided to get on the score sheet to make it 4-3 but it was too little too late, and Peake Villa came out deserving winners in the end, also ending our run in the FAI Cup for another year. Our B team didnt fair much better in the 3 o clock game losing to Celtic 5-0 with 4 goals coming from quick Celtic breaks, I thought our lads at times played lovely football and were missing something in the Final 3rd of the pitch. This our First year with a B team and a lot of lads first year at Junior Level so a lot to learn and Im sure the boys will take it on the chin and move on to the next game with a little bit more experience from todays one. Hard luck to both teams we will bounce back as we always have done. HON THE WILDIES!!!
