Today’s Gospel is MT 8:1-4. It is Memorial of Saint Irenaeus, Bishop and Martyr. Irenaeus wrote many exceptional works which laid the foundations of Christian theology He produced a treatise in five books in which he set forth the inner doctrines of the various sects, and afterwards contrasts them with the teaching of the Apostles and the text of the Holy Scripture. His work, widely circulated in Greek and Latin, succeeded in refuting gnosticism. “ON YOUR PART, YOU AND YOUR DESCENDANTS AFTER YOU MUST KEEP MY COVENANT THROUGHOUT THE AGES.”
