Today’s Tip: One of the main reasons barrel horses don’t stretch out and run in competition is because they lack confidence. Some horses are more naturally secure than others. In either case it’s our responsibility to balance out their innate tendencies as much as possible, and instill feelings of safety and security under all circumstances. Remember that asking ANY horse to very precisely place their feet at top speed, while surrendering their body parts to the rider, in a high pressure environment, is a BIG ASK!
