Tom Croswell We are each responsible for our own actions, regardless of what others do. When we see something wrong being done, we cannot justify our inactions because others are being irresponsible and taking no action as well. For years we have stood by and watched as both parties in the US Congress have continued to weave their web of power and corruption. We have watched as they continue to pound on the rights and freedom of the people, bringing our nation to its knees in submission for their personal gain. We have watched as they use their power and money to bias the media and win elections and re-elections by swaying so many uninformed and irresponsible Americans, resulting in spiders nesting in their webs in Congress for 20, 30 or in some cases nearly 40 years. Some will say that if so many Americans are too irresponsible to end this atrocity during the elections, they are getting what they deserve. I say again, the irresponsibility of others does not justify our taking no action when the welfare of our families, our country, and ourselves are at stake. Our forefathers provided us a means to overcome an aristocratic federal government should it ever arise. They foresaw the need, having fought against such a governing body for our freedom and the conception of our nation. Article 5 of the US Constitution provides us the means to amend the US Constitution without the approval of the US Congress. When an amendment is presented by 2/3’s of the States and ratified by ¾’s of the States, it becomes part of the Constitution, without the US Congress having any say in the matter. We CAN impose a Term Limit on the US Congress without their approval, and thereby tear the very heart from this web of aristocracy and corruption. It is not the answer to all of our problems. But, once imposed, it will open the door to recreating a more functional government that represents the needs of our country.
