Tomorrow, Kathryn and I will complete the final leg of the Camino - TopicsExpress

Tomorrow, Kathryn and I will complete the final leg of the Camino and arrive in Santiago de Compostela. The walk from Sarria to Santiago has been amazing. It winds through the mountains, similar to the first section we did in the Pyrenees, but the inclines and declines were not as steep. There were still quite a few hills to navigate though. During this leg, we also experienced walking the through the rain. Walking in the rain requires a whole host of considerations. First and foremost, it helps immensely if your shoes are water resistant. Wet feet are a pilgrims worst enemy. Second is the rain cover for the pack, and third is the poncho or rain jacket. We were lucky in that only a soft shower was falling. I was excited to use my rain gear so I could say I used everything in my pack. This wore off after about the first 4 miles. The rain seemed to muffle the sounds of other pilgrims passing by. We found the peacefulness to be calming. After a long, wet day, we finally made it to our next destination, took showers and got settled. That was two days ago, and since then we have walked 26 more miles. We will complete the last 12 miles and arrive at our goal of Santiago de Compostela tomorrow. Buen Camino
