Tomorrow is almost upon us. The pinnacle of a huge amount of blood - TopicsExpress

Tomorrow is almost upon us. The pinnacle of a huge amount of blood sweat and tears of many people, and something that never looked likely to happen only a month ago. And even though there isn’t an actual game, it will hopefully be a special atmosphere. Come down. Bring your kids..your nieces…nephews…grandweans…mums and dads. Even if it’s just for an hour (the Fair’s not what it used to be – no wee monkeys to get your picture taken with). AND WEAR SOMETHING AIRDRIE RELATED OR RED AND WHITE. B Boys, Scarfers, Geeks, Cue Here bus, WEB bus, out of towners, families etc…all the various factions that make up our merry little band. Let’s show the people of this town that there is another option to the Old Firm, that there is an Airdrieonians team to be proud of and it’s on their doorstep. Not in an intimidating way…not aggressively….be nice. But emphasie the great offer that is available to them, and big up the Diamond experience. Let’s try to get as many new fans along as possible. The process for what to do should – hopefully – be relatively simple. We will have a marquee outside WH Smiths. We will have 3 teams of 2, collecting your strips and handing over – where it’s wanted – the season ticket voucher. We will also be recording the names of those who take a voucher as a precaution to the voucher being lost. From there – although not compulsory – everyone will be directed up to the Starting Point. The 1st 120 kids who show their voucher will receive a free goodie bag. The 1st 200 kids will receive a balloon. In terms of redeeming the voucher to get a season ticket, these will need to be taken up to the Stadium on the dates they are selling the season tickets, and the swap takes place. That all make sense ? In terms of other things tomorrow….. 1.) We will have 3 face painters at the outside marquee. These guys will only be doing red and white diamonds/AFC’s etc etc. The Fair day have employed *proper* face painters, but try to steer the kids away from those guys 2.) The goodie bags….temper your childrens’ expections in advance ! There’s no Barbie Dolls or Transformers – but there is a handful of Airdrie programmes in each, along with Loom bands, an Aces form, and some old Airdrie United badges. There will, however, be a golden ticket in 3 of them. If your child finds one, these can be exchanged (when redeeming the season ticket voucher) for one of two free passes at Kids Kingdom, or a family ticket of 4 to the Airdrie Town Hall Cinema. 3.) Stock in the Starting Point. This has taken off beyond our wildest dreams, and is a big two fingers up to those who said it wouldn’t work. This is all being funded by the Trust, and therefore we have to be canny with what is ordered. If we run out of stock tomorrow, we can re-order. If you think something is too expensive – or shite – tell me, not anyone else or on the Stomp etc. It’s all trial and error and we will willingly act on anything that looks rubbish or too pricey. In general everything we buy is towards a 50% margin. 4.) Trust and Aces Membership. You will be able to join tomorrow at the Starting Point. The Aces again shows unbelievable value for money at £10 – I think in total it cost over £1k to run last year, which was with only 100 combined Trust and Aces members. There has already been a bit about Trust membership posted today. I – like most - haven’t been a member for ten years – but now see the need for a strong and pro-active Trust to safeguard the future of the club. Please join. As a little extra, we will have a raffle for every batch of 50 members who join, with the prizes being the Family Ticket for Pro Bowl, Family Ticket for the Cinema, and vouchers for Burger 7 and Coney no Dae that. They had 52 members last year. It should easily be looking to get 200 at least 5.) It may go like clockwork…and it might be chaos. But be patient. Everyone is volunteering and has put a stack of work into this. Just bear with them if its busy. We all know each other – pretty much – so be prepared to lend a hand if need be. 6.) Remember it doesnt end tomorrow. There will be a stall at Blackridge Gala Day on Sunday, and we will be taking strip donations all through July. If you miss tomorrow....there is plenty time to get in on the act. 7.) Pub crawl after the Fair – everyone is welcome. Alison Graham has done a fantastic job getting this off the ground when we, in reality, have a wee support. Let’s support the venture and make sure it’s a long lasting ones, and maybe get the beer introduced. Drink lots and be merry. And lastly… BRING LOTS OF STRIPS !!!!! Desperately want to get to the 10000. Let’s not lose sight of that. We can do it. It’s an overused cliché, but genuinely, let’s move onwards and upwards. WE ARE AIRDRIE. PS Can someone come and cut my grass cos Ive not had a night in the house for 3 weeks and its up to my knees.
