Tomorrow night, October 29, I’m giving a talk on Religious Tolerance at the Woodstock Jewish Congregation. At a time when so much hatred, violence and war persists “in the name of God”, it is certainly a timely topic. I hope local friends can come, 7:00 pm (it’s free, though the WJC is always happy to receive donations). Actually, the talk is about going *beyond* religious tolerance – which can often be condescending, which can sometimes render us unwilling to criticize foolish or dangerous ideas, and may leave us unwilling to stand by our own convictions. A new perspective on tolerance is needed, and I will be offering one. The Faiths of the world are very different. They are also very much the same.
