Tomorrow night my radio show "Soundscapes" will feature the orchastral score from the movie "Romulus, My Father". A biographical memoir, first published in 1998, by Australian philosopher Raimond Gaita, which outlines the life of his father, Romulus Gaita (1922 - May 1996), the film adaptation was released in 2007, starring Eric Bana, Franka Potente & Kodi Smit-McPhee. Directed by Richard Roxburgh the soundtrack features original orchestral music by Basil Hogios. Basil Hogios is an award-winning composer, musical director, sound artist, & producer, working in film, television, theatre, dance, album production & installation. He is known for his unique mix of emotive traditional music with sonic textures & evocative studio production techniques. He composed the score for the critically acclaimed feature film Romulus My Father, for which he received an AFI nomination. Recently he worked on the Dreamworks arena show of How To Train Your Dragon as composer and arranger, working with Jónsi (of legendary Icelandic band Sigur Rós) & renowned film composer John Powell, under the direction of Nigel Jamieson.
