Tomorrow will be the 85th week of making and delivering care bags for the homeless of Logan Square, Chicago. January 11, 2015 will make over 456 care bags full of nutritious snacks, toiletries and assistance information delivered. I always urge people to make their own care bags for the homeless in their communities. You can have an enormous impact even if you just make one care bag a month and deliver it to someone in need, even better to the same person and build on a relationship. When you develop and build a relationship with a homeless person you are saying, I see you, I value you, I care about you. Here are the contents of this weeks care bags, Information packet of local shelters and assistance, gallon zip-loc bag, hand warmers, wet-wipes, gold bond medicated powder, chapstick, antacids, tissue, hand lotion, sun chips, yogurt covered raisins, apple pie lara bar, clif bar, almonds, beef sticks, quaker soft baked bar, nature valley breakfast biscuits, nature valley sweet and salty peanut bar, kashi bar, soft and chewy granola bar, water, gatorade, nutrition drink, annies animal cookies, rice krispy treat, clif bar crunch, gogo squeeze applegrape packets, ritz crackers, hershey bar with almonds, peanut butter crackers. The past week I have been distributing coats, gloves, hats and scarves. Ive been asking if anyone needs anything and show them the winter wear in the back of my suv for them to pick out the coat they want. I think tomorrow I may pick up some more items like individual peanut butter servings and a couple more items.
