Tompkins Ice Crossing Status April 7, 2014 Effective immediately the Tompkins ice crossing capacity has been reduced to a maximum of 20 tonne, in order to protect the integrity of the crossing and public safety please adhere to the posted regulations. As the weather continues to get warmer further reductions and eventual closure of the crossing is imminent. The maximum posted speed limit on the ice crossing is 10 kilometres per hour which will be monitored and enforced in accordance with the traffic safety act.
