Tonight at the St. Sebastian River Preserve State Park Visitor Center We will be having a Race Meeting on Nov 5th at the Visitor Center - 1000 Buffer Preserve Road, Fellsmere at 6:30 PM -- if you have already agreed to help and can not make the meeting Please - call me -772-202-0220. If you can not help yourself, please help us get the word out by sharing this. The Wild Sebastian 100 allows AFLOC to offer Adventure Camp programs to families in need. Our mission is to combat nature deficit disorder by getting people outdoors connected to nature and active. Here is the list of volunteer opportunities available at the event: Volunteers are needed to help with: Pre-race preparation - making PB&J sandwiches for aid stations during the race making Spaghetti Sauce (meat and veggie), for Prerace dinner making soup or chili for aid stations for during the race making cookies for Prerace dinner and aid stations during race setting up carports packing goodie bags setting up the Big Top Packing First Aid Kits Sorting Supplies Serving Pasta at the Race Meeting Race weekend volunteers are needed to help at Aid Stations that are set up along the trail in the woods of the St Sebastian River Preserve State Park for the 32 hours of the event (they can stay for the entire event or do 3 hour shifts) recording runners names, bib #, and times as they pass by on a Big White Board for all to see - refilling water and sports drinks maintaining the food station- and making sure it is clean and tidy Assisting the runners- meeting them as they approach, asking if they need a sandwich, gel, bar, etc... Refilling runners hydration bottles, bags, etc.... Being supportive, energetic and cheering on the runners keeping their moral up so they can finish their target goal of up to 100 miles Ride the trails to patrol for runners needing assistance, pick up trash, check on AS supplies Help at the resupply area loading ice, water, supplies into trucks going out to resupply the Aid Stations Runners Lounge and Food Tent - make sandwiches, refill water and sports drink jugs, assist runners, be friendly happy faces encouraging the runners to keep going Timing Tent - assist with the electronic timing by manually recording runners name, bib # and times as they pass by entering runners times into spread sheet posting finishing times on a Big White Board in the Runners Lounge Social Media updates- posting photos, videos, interviews from the Runners Lounge, Finish Area Post Race Clean up (Sunday starting at 10 am) Entering Runners Data into an excel spread sheet Breaking down Aid Station Car Ports Bringing in signs, equipment, supplies Sorting Supplies and recording what is left over - Cleaning Coolers, jugs Taking down the Big Top Cleaning up...... AFLOC knows that events like the Wild Sebastian 100 could not take place without the tremendous efforts of volunteers.
