Tonite!!! In St. Johns!! A concert of traditional Irish Music and Song performed by visiting musicians Martin and Christine Dowling from Belfast, Ireland Sunday, September 7th 7:30pm Church of the Acoustic Redemption 8325 N Central 97203 in lovely St. Johns. Sliding scale contribution: $10-$20 Bring your own beverages! Light snacks will be provided. Martin and Christine Dowling have been playing traditional Irish music together since the early 1980s when they met at the local sessions in Madison, Wisconsin. Over the decades they have developed a seamless and intimate style of fiddle and flute playing deeply influenced by the music of Sligo, Leitrim, Fermanagh and Donegal. Christine is also a sensitive interpreter of traditional song in the English language, whether of sdars Martin and Christine released the acclaimed album A Thousand Farewells in 1997, recorded in Madison with their long-time friend and collaborator, guitarist Daithi Sproule.
