Took my boy on his birthday/gotcha day hike(a day early) today! This is a trail close by home that weve done countless times. Its a little over 6 miles if you dont explore. Due to construction of new cabins at the state park, they rerouted the trail. Yeah. They failed to put markings or signs up and omg we got lost! I called the office and a Ranger was supposed to come to us and help me find my way. He never showed. I had found my way out to a road, but didnt know which it was and cars were zooming by us. I finally just started walking and saw the trail from the road. Cut my way through to it and it turns out to be a mtn bike trail. What fun that was...lol! After we had already hiked almost 8 miles by this time. We eventually found our way back to the car, but I was so pissed that they didnt come to my aide. In total we did 8.37 miles. Definitely not the longest hike weve ever done, but damn! I hadnt planned on all that! Haha! This should be a lesson to all! I ALWAYS pack food and lots and lots of water and first aid, no matter how well I know the trail(or think I do) and no matter how easy it is. You never know what could happen. This is one of the few trails I feel comfortable going alone on too! Lol! I called my Mama from the woods quite upset! Haha! Yes, Im 38 and still want my mama! Haha!! I had planned on being done in an hour and half, it was three and some change. Krauser loved it though! Hes plum tuckered out!
